چکیده

Herein, we present the initial application of NOAA-EPA Atmosphere-Chemistry Coupler (NACC) in cloud (“NACC-Cloud”, version 1), which processes NOAA’s operational Global Forecast System 16 (GFSv16) meteorology on-demand and produces model-ready meteorological files needed to drive U.S. EPA’s Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model. NACC is adapted from Meteorology-Chemistry Interface Processor 5 (MCIPv5) used as primary model coupler current NWS/NOAA air quality forecasting The development use NACC-Cloud this work are critical provide scientific community streamlined access GFSv16 data user-defined processing download model-ready, input for any regional CMAQ domain worldwide. system was implemented on Amazon® Web Services High-Performance Computing platform, results show that immediately beneficial modeling

Statistical trend analysis and forecast modeling of air pollutants

The study provides a statistical trend analysis of different air pollutants using Mann-Kendall and Sen’s slope estimator approach on past pollutants statistics from air quality index station of Varanasi, India. Further, using autoregressive integrated moving average model, future values of air pollutant levels are predicted. Carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide, particu...

Cloud Processing of Gases and Aerosols in Air Quality Modeling

The representations of cloud processing of gases and aerosols in some of the current state-of-the-art regional air quality models in North America and Europe are reviewed. Key processes reviewed include aerosol activation (or nucleation scavenging of aerosols), aqueous-phase chemistry, and wet deposition/removal of atmospheric tracers. It was found that models vary considerably in the parameter...

Machine learning algorithms in air quality modeling

Modern studies in the field of environment science and engineering show that deterministic models struggle to capture the relationship between the concentration of atmospheric pollutants and their emission sources. The recent advances in statistical modeling based on machine learning approaches have emerged as solution to tackle these issues. It is a fact that, input variable type largely affec...

Performance and diagnostic evaluation of ozone predictions by the Eta-Community Multiscale Air Quality Forecast System during the 2002 New England Air Quality Study.

A real-time air quality forecasting system (Eta-Community Multiscale Air Quality [CMAQ] model suite) has been developed by linking the National Centers for Environmental Estimation Eta model to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) CMAQ model. This work presents results from the application of the Eta-CMAQ modeling system for forecasting ozone (O3) over the Northeastern United States d...
